Agadi Thota, situated in the lush green surroundings of Kunnur village was conceptualized in the year 2000 by Shri. Jayadev Agadi to popularize organic farming, generate awareness amongst city folk to educate indian culture,tradition and natural organic food culture and to help rural farmers to develop a market for organic foods.
Later in the year 2017, as a value addition and to generate additional income to make agriculture more self sustainable, we started to offer a special authentic North Karnataka’s ethnic food which is a geographical indicator of this region. The whole day we keep serving various items in unlimited quantities, starting from Fruit juice as a welcome drink, different variety of seasonal naturally grown and ripened fruit cuts, Millet based breakfast with natural Lemon Tea, Ragi Malt, Tamarind chigali, Sugarcane Juice, North Karnataka cuisine Lunch, Butter milk, pan, evening Masala Girmit with Sev, Mirchi to end with Tea/coffee.
Shri. Jayadev Agadi is basically a progressive farmer inclined towards organic farming. Spread over an area of 40 acres with major cultivation being cashew nut and areca nut, 'Agadi Thota' believes in ‘Go organic, Go healthy’ mantra with culture and tradition.
The farm is lined with 5 factors like Agriculture, Horticulture, Agro Forestry, live stock agriculture, Value Addition and Rural Farming and Rural Lifestyle and food habits. Also educating visitors to experience on their own the lifestyle of village, culture, tradition and healthy food habits. More than 1000 variety of endangered medicinal plants are planted. Farm adopts methods of use of every waste into input for the next process leading to final product. vegetables like brinjal, tomato, beans and coriander are grown apart from maize, soya bean and paddy cultivation. Entire farm from last 13 years is manured organically with organic fertilizers and pest controls named ‘Jeevamrut’ , ‘Brahmastra’, 'Panchagavva' and others. Farm follows self sustainable agriculture with all inbuilt inputs and results to profitability.
Agadi Thota's main objective is to offer a whole day package of ethnic North Karnataka Unlimited food. Along with that, to educate people about our culture and tradition, we also have Village life style self experience as a complimentary to the guests. Promoting our north Karnataka food is our intention hence we do not allow any outside food as we keep serving unlimited quantities of different items throughout the day. Food is our service is mandatory, rest of the experiences are just complementary.
We are very strongly committed towards nature, Indian culture, tradition and values along with promoting healthy living with pure air, water, light, and food. Hence Smoking, Alcohol, Non Veg, Tobacco/Gutka and any kind of Aerated soft drinks is completely prohibited in Thota
Shri. Jayadev Agadi has been felicitated with highest award in agriculture and horticulture for integrated multi crop method of agriculture ‘Krishi Pandit’ award in the year 2014 by Government of Karnataka. The other awards include ‘Shreshtha Krishika’ by University of Agriculture Science, Dharwad, ‘Best Horticulture Farmer’ award by university of horticulture Bagalkot, 'Innovative Farmer by UAS Dharwad, 'Krishi Ratna' award by Karnataka Krishik Samaj and 'National Krishi Ratna award by Bhartiya Krishik Samaj New Delhi and ‘Rajyotsava’ award by Haveri district administration and many more awards from the NGOs.
The periphery of the farm is lined with coconut trees, Mango, Cashew nut and Areca Nut trees.
